Is your car more likely than others to disappear? Possibly — if you drive one of the cars on this list, at least. The National Insurance Crime Bureau crunched the most recent data (from 2021) on the cars that are most likely to be stolen nationwide, and found that passenger vehicle thefts increased 8% in 2021 compared to 2020. From full-size pickups to compact sedans, here are the vehicles that give a new meaning to the phrase “hot wheels."
Reported thefts: 12,927
The first of five kinds of sedans to make this list, Corollas moved down the list two spots from 2020, with the 2020 model year most likely to go missing.

Reported thefts: 13,210
This is the first year that the Jeep Cherokee and its big brother, the Grand Cherokee, have made NICB’s list. Cherokees from the 2018 model year were the most likely to be stolen.
Reported thefts: 13,308
This family favorite SUV moved up from the ninth spot in 2020's list of most stolen vehicles. Thieves were most likely to target an older 2000 model.
Reported thefts: 14,108
Nissan’s only car to make the most-stolen list, the Altima, was stolen slightly less often in 2021 than 2020, though thieves still wanted shiny new 2020 models the most.
Reported thefts: 15,599
The first truck in the top 10, GMC’s rough-and-ready full-size pickup was stolen more often in 2021 than 2020, moving it up a spot. The 2005 model year was the most frequently targeted.
Reported thefts: 17,270
The much-loved Toyota Camry is also much-loved among thieves, who stole it about 350 times more in 2021 than in 2020. Unlike last year when they favored newer models, thieves opted for 2007s most.

This ubiquitous Honda actually saw a slight decrease in thefts from 2020, but Accords are still stolen at a much higher rate than Camrys. Thieves most liked to kick it old-school with the 1997 model year, likely because late ‘90s vehicles were among the last to be made without anti-theft technology, according to NICB.
Reported thefts: 31,673
The Accord’s smaller sibling gets the dubious honor of being 2020’s most-stolen sedan, though it saw a roughly 2,400 decrease in thefts from 2020. The 2000 model year was thieves’ most common target.
Reported thefts: 47,999
For the second year in a row, two full-size pickups were the two most stolen vehicles in the U.S., though they reversed spots in 2021. About 4,000 more Ford pickups were stolen in 2021 than 2020. The most-stolen model? 2006.
Reported thefts: 48,206
The Chevy full-size pickup is the favorite of thieves, a dubious honor that it almost received in 2020 as well. Almost 7,000 more of the pickups were stolen in 2021 compared to 2020, with the 2004 model year the most commonly stolen.
