Electric vehicles are hot and getting hotter, now making up almost 10% of the new car market, according to InsideEVs.com. That means the market for used EVs continues to grow. One online used vehicle retailer, Vroom.com, said it saw a 201% increase in EV sales from 2020 to 2021. Here are its top 10 bestselling EVs for 2021, including a notable Chevy that may soon only be available on the used market.

Average price: $16,314
The Bolt loses nearly half of its resale value after the first three years, which makes it an attractive used car for someone looking to get into EVs. Newer versions have 200 horsepower and an estimated range of 259 miles. But if you're in the market for a Bolt, take note: Used may soon be your only option. GM has produced and sold very few Bolts since late August, a problem related to a battery shortage triggered by recalls of existing models. It's also investing big in its electric pickups, announcing plans to produce them at the plant that's home to the Bolt, but has made no mention of the Bolt's future.

Average price: $42,074
Sure, it’s cool-looking and has some power, but demand for this model also might have something to do with its resale value; the average 3-year-old Model 3 leads the EV segment in that category, according to AutoBlog.com. The model was Vroom.com’s No. 2 seller last year behind the Tesla Model S.

With versions that offer up to 405 miles of range, the luxurious Model S is considered the flagship of the Tesla line and iseecars.com calls it “the industry’s most prolific large electric sedan.” Recent top-of-the-line versions feature three motors that crank out a combined 1,020 horsepower.

Average price: $63,124
The luxury SUV/crossover with cool top-hinged “falcon wing” doors offers three rows of seating. Car and Driver says handling “is surprisingly nimble for an SUV of this size.”

New to Vroom.com’s list, this crossover with a range of about 300 miles offers more space and seating using the chassis, interior, and powertrain from the Model 3. Car and Driver says the model, which debuted last summer, has caught the eye of buyers quickly.

This model loses value rapidly after being driven off the lot — as much as 60%, according to AutoBlog.com. But that could make it worth a look if you can find a lightly used one. With a range that tops out at 153 miles, it’s probably best used for city driving.

Volkswagen stopped making this version of the compact hatchback commuter car a few years ago, concentrating its EV efforts on newer models. iSeeCars.com says about 20,000 were sold in America, with an estimated range of 125 miles for later models.

Car and Driver has good things to say about the newer electric versions of this subcompact SUV. The model also received the Kelley Blue Book Electric Car Best Buy award in 2019, 2020, and 2021, which is every model year since it was introduced.

Kia made this version of its popular four-door runabout for only a few years, so they may be tougher to find. While the range is limited (around 110 miles between charges), the smaller battery means relatively quick charging times, iSeeCars.com says.

This four-door hatchback is one of the longest continuously sold EVs on the road and was the world’s bestselling electric vehicle until the Tesla Model 3 arrived. It has a standard driving range of about 150 miles, and the Plus model tops out at 226.
