The Cost of a Beer and a Hot Dog at Every MLB Ballpark

A day at the ballpark is a summer ritual, and no game is complete without a cold beer and a hot dog. Even during the uncertainties of a coronavirus pandemic the price of a ticket to a Major League Baseball game edged up by 3.6% over 2021, but despite rampant inflation, the price of beer and hot dogs increased only a modest 1.9%. Here's what fans around the league are paying for a draft and a frank in your city compared with the average cost of $6.87 and $5.13, respectively, according to data from the sports business news site Team Marketing Report.

• Price of a Beer: $9.50
• Price of a Hot Dog: $6

The Red Sox are the league's most expensive team to see in 2022, according to the Team Marketing Report Fan Cost Index, which factors in variables such as parking, tickets, and concessions. Not surprisingly, dogs and beers were pricier than the league average, and the beers at Fenway looked especially pricey considering they're only 12 ounces. They increased a dollar since last season, while hot dogs remained $6.

For the fourth year in a row, the Chicago Cubs were the most expensive game in the Windy City, according to the Team Marketing Report Fan Cost Index. Wrigley's $10.49 beers — the No. 3 most expensive in the league and 74 cents more than 2021's price — didn't help. Hot dogs rose 24 cents as well.

• Price of a Hot Dog: $6.00

In 2017, the Astros gave their city a World Series trophy and 101 regular-season wins. This year, they're still sitting in third place among teams on the Fan Cost Index with an overall cost increase of 2%. Part of the increase came from a 25-cent hike in the price for tube steaks.

• Price of a Beer: $6
• Price of a Hot Dog: $3

The older of New York's two teams are selling beer and hot dogs this year for the same prices as 2019. But before you dash off to the next double-header, keep in mind that the New York Yankees hit you with parking fees and game tickets that are among the most expensive in the major league.

• Price of a Beer: $6.75
• Price of a Hot Dog: $6.75

The No. 5 priciest team in baseball is the L.A. Dodgers, which justified the expense with a World Series crown in 2020. The team stands out as one of only two in the league that charge the same amount for a brew and a dog, with no increase in either since last year.

• Price of a Beer: $9.95
• Price of a Hot Dog: $6.95

Hot dog prices actually went down in Nationals Park for this season by 30 cents, but it's being made up in other areas — a beer will cost you almost $10 now, up by 45 cents.

• Price of a Hot Dog: $7.50

San Francisco is not a cheap city by any means, and the Giants’ winning record in 2021 doesn't help keep costs down. A relatively puny 12-ounce beer costs $9, and a hot dog went up 75 cents since last year, more than $2 above the league average.

• Price of a Hot Dog: $6.75

The Fan Cost Index of going to a Rangers game went down in 2022, though they're still the eighth-most-expensive team to see. The cost of a beer went up a full dollar over 2021 — the same amount it increased last season, too — while a dog went up 75 cents.

• Price of a Hot Dog: $5

The overall cost of going to see a White Sox game shot up 9.4% in 2022 compared with last season. That's in part because of the huge increase in beer prices, which cost only $7.50 last year but are now $10.75. At least they're a full 16-ounce pour, and your hot dog won't cost you any more than it did last year.

The prices at Phillies games have stayed practically the same as 2021. While they still have some of the most expensive beer in the league, it went down 1 cent. The cost of a wiener is one of the lowest in the league at only $3.

Although they're still one of the most expensive teams to see overall, the Cards have held prices pretty steady in terms of beers and hot dogs, with hot dogs increasing only 25 cents since 2019. Busch is one of just a handful of stadiums where it costs more for a soft drink ($6.50) than it does for beer or hot dogs at the game.

The prices of beer and hot dogs went up in 2022 at Oakland Alameda Coliseum. You'll be paying above the league average for both, up 50 cents and 25 cents over last season, respectively.

• Price of a Hot Dog: $6.70

At $1.57 above average, hot dogs at New York Mets games are definitely expensive, but they still decreased in price 30 cents from last season. That's child's play, however, compared with the double-digit cost of a brew. At $12, beers at Citi Field blow away the $10.75 MLB's second-priciest drafts.

• Price of a Beer: $5
• Price of a Hot Dog: $3.50

The Braves' fans are savoring the team’s World Series win in 2021 with a cheap trip to the SunTrust Park concession stands, where beer and franks cost below average. Beers are a full $1.87 cheaper than the league average and hot dogs decreased $1.25 since 2021.

• Price of a Hot Dog: $6.75

You would think that the home of the Brewers would have beer cheaper then $9, a 50-cent increase over the 2021 price, but it's for a full pint pour. Hot dogs, meanwhile, didn't increase in price this year.

• Price of a Hot Dog: $4

It's pretty cheap to feed your family at a Royals game, and neither the price of a beer or hot dog changed from last season. Hot dogs are only $4, which is $1.13 below the league average. Beer, too, is less than the league average by $1.37, despite the overall cost of attending a game at Kauffman Stadium going up by 4% since 2021.

• Price of a Beer: $5
• Price of a Hot Dog: $7.50

The Padres hiked their hot dog prices by 75 cents this year, which is tied for the highest in the league. But the team, which exists in the crowded Southern California market, still offers up a reasonably priced brew. The price of a beer stayed the same and is now $2.50 less than a dog. Even still, going to a game at Petco Park will cost you 12.8% more than it did last season, the largest increase in the league.

A beer at Safeco Field is $1.87 below the league average, and the price of a hot dog dropped $3.75 from 2021. Overall, those low prices helped account for a Team Marketing Report Fan Cost Index decrease of 9.8% this season, the second biggest drop in the league.

• Price of a Hot Dog: $4.72

After spending most of the MLB season playing at other U.S. stadiums because of COVID-19 border closings, the Toronto Blue Jays came back in 2022 with very respectable beer and hot dog prices. Both are below the league average, by $2.54 and 41 cents respectively. 

• Price of a Beer: $5
• Price of a Hot Dog: $4

The brewski and dog prices at Target Field are way below the league average, especially considering that beer decreased in price by 50 cents from last season. But it's not as exciting as it sounds, because those beers are a measly 12 ounces.

• Price of a Beer: $5 
• Price of a Hot Dog: $4.50  

If you're buying a beer and a dog at Progressive Field, you're going to be paying less than last season. A beer will cost you only $5, a 50-cent decrease, while hot dogs dropped in price by 25 cents.

Motor City's Tigers have had some dismal recent seasons, and their 2022 record isn't looking any better. Thankfully for fans, the prices of beer and hot dogs stayed the same at a cheap $5 and $5.50.

Stadium snacks hardly changed since 2021 at Great American Ballpark. A beer went down in price one penny, but hot dogs increase 24 cents to just under $6, higher than the league average.

Like the Cardinals, the Rockies' stadium has beer right there in the name. Diehard fans in the Mile High City are rewarded with the cheapest suds in the entire Major Leagues. The team's $3 beers are even cheaper than its sodas ($5).

• Price of a Hot Dog: $6

Unlike the Dodgers, the Los Angeles Angels baseball team takes it easy on its fans at the concession stand. Beer actually decreased 50 cents  this season, to $4.50, though the team made up the difference by increasing a hot dog by the same amount.

The 2022 Fan Cost Index at Oriole Park in Baltimore plummeted 17.4% compared with 2021, the largest drop in the league by far. That was bolstered by a $3.50 drop in the price of a hot dog, though the cost of a beer stayed the same at a steep $10. Still, they are the fifth-cheapest place to catch a ballgame this season.

• Price of a Beer: $6.50
• Price of a Hot Dog: $4

The No. 4 cheapest overall game to see in all of baseball is the Pittsburgh Pirates. Though the price increased this year by a quarter, hot dogs are still cheaper than the league average, and a hefty 16-ounce beer is still under the average price.

• Price of a Beer: $5
• Price of a Hot Dog: $5

Just two teams are a better bargain than the Rays in all of Major League Baseball. Neither the price of a beer or hot dog has changed since 2019, and both are still plenty under the league average.

• Price of a Beer: $5
• Price of a Hot Dog: $3

The second-least-expensive game to see in the Major Leagues is at Marlins Park in Miami. Neither beer not hot dogs got more expensive in 2022. Only one other stadium sells hot dogs for less than they do at $3.

• Price of a Hot Dog: $2

The Arizona Diamondbacks are the cheapest overall team to see in baseball yet again — they've held that title since 2009. Even though the price went up 99 cents this season, beers are well below the league average, which is especially impressive considering they're 14 ounces. At two bucks, the hot dogs are the cheapest you'll find.
