In what might be the surest sign that things are getting back to normal in the U.S., free samples are coming back to Costco. The fan favorites were yanked from the warehouse club over a year ago as a pandemic safety measure, but they will start reappearing at many stores within a week, officials said during a recent earnings call.
Costco says samples should be available at most locations by the end of June. Still, there will be a few changes. Food will be prepared in smaller batches behind a barrier, with samples given out one at a time. In other words: Prepare to wait a bit longer for your freebies.

In another change for Costco food fans, indoor seating will return to most of the store's food courts during June, though tables will be smaller and there will be fewer seats in general. Some stores will even get outdoor food courts. Ice cream will be replacing frozen yogurt on the menu, which was radically streamlined during the pandemic. Costco will also unveil an improved churro by the Fourth of July.
